Chronicles #4 Jennifer Batten , Celebrating the life and music of real musicians who play real instruments for a living,fourth in a series of posts i will be chronicling on my timeline regularly for myself -today chronicling the great Rock Fusion guitarist Jennifer Batten- she will play circles around the legions of wankers on here.She was lead Guitarist for Michael Jackson in the 80's and 90's and then went on to join the Jeff Beck band and played tons of killer tapping licks and guitar synth parts with Beck on his albums and gigs.My childhood hobby of writing letters to my heroes paying rich dividends in the legends themselves writing back and often sending their own music and books for me to listen to and read,she very kindly sent me her book on 2 hand tapping for me to read too.

It finally boils down to if the music is really worthy of any retention value

With so much guitar music being churned out everyday with so called virtuoso shredders,Blues benders and Jazz academics it finally boils down to if the music is really worthy of any retention value and if it touches your heart-a shining beacon in this vast ocean of  flash and static players Mr Lee Ritenour !!!! A childhood influence on me and he continues to amaze me with his musicianship and truly amazing composing abilities-a pillar in the guitar playing community surely.

its all about Touch,Tone and Taste,its also about how the plectrum makes contact with the string,no matter how many million notes you play or even shred the living daylights out of your fretboard-if it doesn't move the listener emotionally you can forget about ever having a musical impact,it would be more akin to a sport than an art form,here are just a few of the champions of the instrument who have gracefully carried the flag of instrumental guitar music into a new millennium !!!
